The Tommy Steen Memorial Golf Tournament was organized to honor a beloved son, brother, and friend. The idea behind the tournament was to keep Tommy’s name and legacy alive as well as raise money to begin a scholarship for high school students in his name. 

 

The scholarship is awarded to a Central High School senior each year that contributes toward one year of college tuition.  Tommy loved the town of Pageland, South Carolina where he grew up and this scholarship will benefit a student from the school he attended and the community he grew up in.

In the tournament's four year history, approximately $55,000 has been raised and invested back into the communities that Tommy loved.  The outpouring of support from the local community, friends, and family has been astounding.  For an event to raise as much money as it has in its first couple of years shows the impact that Tommy had on countless lives. It is our goal to continue to honor his name and impact lives the way he did. 

 

In addition to the annual scholarship given to a Central High School student, we have started a $25,000 Scholarship Endowment in memory of Tommy at Clemson University. Tommy attended Clemson from 2012 - 2016 and with this endowment we will be able to transform the lives of Clemson students so they can have the same Clemson experience Tommy did. It is our goal to increase this total endowment to $75,000 so that we can ensure that the annual scholarship goes to a student within Chesterfield County.
